Vice President of the Dominica Tennis Association, Andy Carter, has hailed the one-day Resurrection Tennis Tournament as a major success.
“The Resurrection Tennis Tournament was a tremendous success as the best tennis players on island displayed their skill and talent,” he said.
The tournament was held at the Dominica Grammar School during the Easter weekend.
Calvin Norris and Mauricio Burton were the two winners of the Resurrection Doubles Tennis Tournament. They beat former men’s champion McPherson Leevy and former Ladies champion Roslyn George in the finals while Mauricio Burton overcame strong challenges from McPherson Leevy.
“It was a joy to see young Mauricio Burton overcoming all the challenges from the former champions (Calvin Norris, McPherson Leevy, Henry Pacquette and Keenan Adams) to take away the super tie-break title while he teamed up with Calvin Norris to win the doubles,” Carter noted.
Calvin Norris and Keenan Adams also won the Big Edge super 10 tiebreak while Kieron Phillip won over Alanzo Doctrove in the Juniors Super 10 tiebreak.
