The Isaiah Thomas Secondary School and the St. Mary’s Academy played to a thrilling 2-2 draw on Tuesday afternoon at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium in the Sports Division Secondary School U15 Football Championship.
Playing in game one of the afternoon, the ITSS took an early lead and ended the first half on the front foot.
But the St. Mary’s Academy who looked dangerous going forward all throughout the first half, equalized within minutes of the restart. However, their joy was short-lived as the ITSS registered their second goal of the afternoon.
Both teams kept pressing and creating chances, but it was the SMA who scored and equalized for the second time in the match — an attempted cross which was misjudged by the ITSS shot stopper, the ball floating over the keeper and into the nets.
Rasheed Wallace and Yhan Timothy scored for Isaiah Thomas Secondary School while Jahleel Daniel and Shael Mendes scored for the St. Mary’s Academy.
In the second game, in the U20 Division, Portsmouth Secondary School and the Dominica Grammar School played to 3-all draw.
PSS had to come from being 2-0 down in the first half to take a 3-2 lead in the second half. Again, just like the first match, the Dominica Grammar School equalized late into the second half to earn a hard fought draw.
Goal scorers for the Portsmouth Secondary School; Richmond Pierre Louis (2) and Tyson Sudre (1). Jervon Matthew, Tyreke Jnobaptiste and Naheen Andrew scored one each for the DGS.
