Sagicor South East returned to the top of the DFA Premier League with an emphatic 4-0 win over Promex Harlem United at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The win over Harlem leaves South East on 38 points for the season, 2 ahead of CCCU Dublanc FC who play on Sunday.
Sagicor South East came into the match looking to reclaim top spot and they did just that. CCCU Dublanc FC moved into first the week before Easter following an 8-0 win over Petro Caribe Pointe Michel, but the boys from the South East were in a no nonsense mood on Saturday.
Coach Gavarska Charles says this win comes from good planning at training. “We came here today to prove ourselves that we mean to win the trophy…whatever we do in practice we come and do it on the field and so far so good the boys have done what we’ve been practicing,” he said.
Charles says “from day one we have been confident but we had little drops in the second round and we picked up ourselves again and from that we going right through, till the last match.”
CCCU Dublanc FC takes on Bath Estate FC on Sunday afternoon in the second match of a doubleheader at the Windsor Park. A win for the Dublanc team will send them back on top of the table by one point, however, a draw or a defeat on Sunday could mean Dublanc FC must win against Sagicor South East when the two teams meet on the final weekend of premier action.
Charles says Sagicor South East will be going hard at Dublanc FC in their final match of the season. “We will lift up that trophy against Dublanc,” Coach Charles stated with confidence.
The coach plans to head back to the drawing board to work on mistakes made during the match against Harlem on Saturday.
