Defending Premier League Champions, Sagicor South East FC made a winning start to there title defense, with a 4-1 victory over newcomers WE United FC at the Stock Farm Complex on Sunday.
Two goals from Davone George in the 13th and 15th minute gave South East a comfortable first half lead.
Michel Gasper pulled a goal back in the 56th minute of play as United started to play their brand of football, but, Javid George and Isaiah Pascal confirmed victory for Sagicor South East in the 62nd and 80th minute respectively.
Coach of Sagicor South East, Gavaskar Charles said “the performance of the team was very good.”
“Whatever we practiced I find we do it on the field today and I feeling proud of my boys and I want to thank them for that,” he said.
However, Charles wasn’t pleased about the goal his team conceded in the second half.
“Is football but I wasn’t pleased about it but we recovered and we got the two other goals in the second half and I feel happy about that,” Charles said.
For WE United, it’s back to the drawing board according to Kenny Jno Charles.
“Honestly, some the areas we worked on during the off season, if the guys had just implement some of it I think the guys would have had a better showing,” he said.
“We have a little stuff to go back to on the drawing board, go back to practice and get our games back in order and play our style of football, but, we have to give it to the defending champs…but we ain’t done yet, we have more life,” Jno Charles added.
