The St. Lucia Zouks are set to have Daren Sammy back as its captain for the 2020 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season.
Sammy, who has been part of the Zouks since the inception of the CPL in 2013, has just concluded a coaching stint in Pakistan.
The 37-year-old says he’s excited to be retained by the Zouks and to be captaining this year. “The franchise is dear to my heart and this year I am honored to lead the franchise one more time,” Sammy said.
He further added, “Playing at home with passionate fans and the caliber of players I anticipate will be retained, I expect to bring silverware to St. Lucia.”
“St. Lucia Zouks is well on its way in securing its team of players and looks forward to a successful year of cricket in St. Lucia.”
The CPL is scheduled to take place between August 19 and September 26 but the tournament organizers are closely monitoring the situation with COVID-19 and have begun liaising with medical advisors and the various governments.
