The North East Comprehensive School had to dig deep to overturn a 5-0 first quarter deficit against the Convent High School in the Sports Division Secondary School Under-14 Netball finals at the Dominica Grammar School Grounds on Wednesday.
The Convent High School looked all set strolling toward the title but a lack of concentration and a lapse in maintaining their game plan saw the NECS come from behind and pulled away to win by 8 points.
Nyoka James led the comeback for the North East Comprehensive with 26/13 and Kiara Marcell 11/5.
The final scores; NECS 18, CHS 10.
Coach of NECS, Lisa James says the first quarter started out really slow for her girls.
“After some pep-talk, some encouragement because the players were a little bit depressed knowing that they are not accustomed of being in this situation and they came back pretty strong and they started following instructions and tips and they came out as a much better team,”James said.
Meanwhile, Julia Johnson, Coach of Convent High School blamed a lack of concentration from her girls.
“I think it’s concentration and they tried to play the opponents [NECS] game, they were playing the game to fast and that’s where we really lost control of the game,” Coach Johnson said.
Zhana Edward registered 13/6 and Adeola Xavier 8/4 for the CHS.
